The trip from our 3-night stop at Van Stadens Resort to Yellow Sands, our first 3-month destination, was an eventful drive.
We had a flat tire just before we reached Alexandria on our way to Yellow Sands. Not sure what happened but it wasn’t a pothole, so we suspect we may have hit a piece of steel or something similar.
While I was digging for the jack and spare tyre, two young men passed by and, seeing only The Wifey next to the car, they thought they had to assist the stranded woman. I am sure their faces fell when I appeared from behind the car!
Nevertheless, Martin van Rensburg and a colleague from Boesmansriviermond made a big difference in our day. They just took over and changed the tyre in much less time than it would have taken me to do the job.
It turned out that Martin is a distinguished businessman who does business internationally.

In no time, we were back on the road thanks to these two helpful young men. In addition, Martin referred us to Des Long of Speedy Tyre and Fitment about 20 km before Alexandria. Des did not have the correct size tyre in stock but he fished out a still good second-hand tyre which could serve well as a spare.

After an exhausting and emotionally draining trip, we arrived at Yellow Sands where the very capable receptionist booked us in and had us choose a camping site in no time.
This was our first set-back of our year-long camping trip. No doubt there will be more.
