Can you live permanently in a caravan park?
Yes, there are caravan parks in South Africa that either completely or partially provide sites for full-time campers.
It is impractical to provide a list here because it changes all the time. We suggest you identify an area where you would like to camp full-time and call or email caravan parks in the area.
Can you camp all year round?
Yes, you can camp all year round in South Africa. You will either be a full-time camper or an all-season (long-term) camper.
Some areas may have extreme weather during some seasons such as the Drakensberg in Winter or the far Northern areas in summer, but if you are well equipped, you should be fine.
How long can you stay on a camp site?
You can stay as long as the camp owners will allow you.
There are legal requirements for extended or permanent stays, but the camp owners have that sorted and will let you sign the necessary documentation if required.
Most all-season campers stay for periods ranging from 1 – 6 months.

Monthly rental camp sites
It is not feasible for us to publish specific campgrounds and their present monthly rentals because it changes every year, and sometimes even sooner.
Most South African camping grounds accept monthly campers. Communicate with the camp of your choice to get their present rates.

What is bad about long term camping?
There are very little that is bad about long-term camping. Most “bad” experiences revolve around wrong decisions or bad preparation by people.
