DIBIKI RIVERSDAL

Dibiki Riversdal caravan park is in many aspects similar to Dibiki Hartenbos and it is run by the same family.

We only stayed over for 3 nights before we had to move on, but we had an opportunity to see the town and we drove out into the interior.

On the Ladismith road, through Garcia’s Mountain Pass, we enjoyed the first glimpses of the Karoo and we stopped at Muiskraal Olives which was most enjoyable.

We also had lunch at The Old Jail Restaurant in Riversdale.

This was an enjoyable experience and we can recommend this as a place to visit in Riversdale.

We had the tastiest bobotie and rice, and slices of chocolate and carrot cake we would want to enjoy again when we pass here. We asked to buy some of their salad dressing as it was a sure winner for us, and they gladly filled a bottle for us.

The Old Jail is an historical place where only one execution ever took place. The history appears on the menu and the jail cells are a collection of antique shops. The Old Jail Restaurant is situated at 1 Main Street, Riversdale.

It didn’t look appetizing, but was very tasty and we enjoyed it!

Neville and Kathleen

Sometimes, at a camping site, you encounter unusual people. At Dibiki Riversdale two elderly people arrived the day before we left and parked their RV opposite our camping site.

That is how I met Neville and Kathleen. Neville is 81 (Kathleen’s age I did not ask as it isn’t appropriate!) and they still tour and camp after 57 years. They focus on travelling the dirt roads of the country in their old imported Jurgens RV.

I had the most enjoyable conversation with these interesting old timers!
